Proposed contributions to the Diversity Festival

The list below shows all the proposals that have been recieved by the Steering Group so far - thank you to everyone who has contributed!.

Members of the African Community
2nd and/or 30th October. Music and food (to be confirmed)

Amnesty International
2nd and 30th October: contribution to main events (confirmed but no details provided)

Beaumont College
Hosting an event (either separately at the college or joining together with others) during October to show some of the Creative Arts performance work that students have completed over the last 4 years and some of the methods
employed in working with students with special educational needs (confirmed).
Possibly producing a film about the festival (to be confirmed)

Buddhist Group (Tibetan Tradition)
During October: Meditation session (to be confirmed)

Catholic Caring Services
30th October: contribution to concluding event (confirmed but no details provided)

Members of Chinese Community
During October: Food and calligraphy (to be confirmed)

Corrymeela
Irish dancers from Heysham promoting peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and good relations between Protestants and Catholics everywhere (confirmed)

Dallas Road School
During October: International Evening at the school (confirmed)
Assistance with planning & organisation (confirmed)

The Dukes Cinema
20th October: Gay and Lesbian Double Bill (confirmed)
24th October: Film in conjunction with Black Arts Alliance (confirmed)
Possibly launching an Asian Young Men's Film club plus screening to complement this (to be confirmed).

The Dukes Exhibition Space
Use of space for Diversity Exhibition 2-15 October (confirmed)

Faith & Justice Commission
During October: hosting separate event (to be confirmed)

Global Link Development Education Centre
2nd and 30th October: Display and workshops about local/global issues - e.g. refugees/asylum. 'Escape to Safety' - a multi-media interactive exhibition built into a 40 ft lorry about refugees and asylum - on 30th October (confirmed)

Lancaster & District Women's Aid
2nd and 30th October: activity (confirmed but no details provided) addressing the theme of gender and the aims of educating/awareness-raising and supporting long-term partnerships and programmes.

Lancaster Seed Savers
2nd October: Stall/display: info about issues related to seed
saving/cultural diversity - e.g. struggles by people of various cultures to have the right to save their own seeds (confirmed)
Apple Day 9th October: encouraging participation of women of various cultures and appreciation of diversity of cooking styles (confirmed)
