useful links/information including contant information for local MPs
and MEPs, below.
also covers Morecambe, Heysham and surrounding
area. www.lancaster.gov.uk/ Councils offer a number of services online via the DirectGov
website offering, called “My Council”: www.direct.gov.uk/mycouncil
The aim of the site is to bring public services online and make
them easy to find and use and of course nothing to do with cutting the numbers
of people you can actually talk to face to face, which Tony Blair has decided
no one wants to do any more.
My Council brings together the most commonly requested
council services in a single place, and connects you directly
to the specific information you need. You don’t need to know which authority is responsible for each
service – you simply select the service you want, enter
your postcode or town, and My Council does the rest.
Issues you can deal with via My Council include:
* School holiday schemes
* Childcare
* Flytipping
* Graffiti
* Garden waste
* Library books
* Parking tickets
* And many more…
My Council also links through to all the online services provided
by national government departments, and to a vast range of government
information and advice (who don't want to talk to you face to face
any more, either)
