3D Design for 3D Printing Day Workshop

Venue:
Unit 5, Sharpes Mill, White Cross, LA1 4XS
Organisers:
Lancaster and Morecambe Makers

This is an opportunity to learn how to design your own 3D models and plans to be printed on a 3D printer or cut on a laser cutter or milling machine. There will be five short talks and demos at the start of the day, each introducing a different 3D design package. After that there will be time for questions and general discussion.

If you bring your own laptop, there will be time later on to work on a design of your own, with help from others if you want it.

The event is hosted by Lancaster and Morecambe Makers at their space on the White Cross industrial estate (Unit 5, Sharpes Mill, White Cross, LA1 4XS).

See https://lamm.space/2017/06/ for more information. Anyone is welcome, although under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. We ask for reasonable donations for any materials you use.

The talks / demos will be:

Starts 12pm

Tom Bloor - Introduction to Fusion360.
Ian Norton - Modelling in OpenSCAD.
Andrew Baxter - 3 ways to model a real object in FreeCAD.
-- break --
Dave Leack - 3D Printing with Blender: Common errors and how to fix them.
Ian Jackson - Modelling in Vectric Aspire.

Ends 5pm

The talks will last between 30 to 40 minutes, with a 20 minute break in the middle.
