Comedy Workshop

Storey Centre, Lancaster LA1 1THL
Jane Postlethwaite

Do you love comedy? Do you ever wonder what it takes to be a comedian and come up with comedy material? Got a wedding speech or talk at work to prepare? Maybe you just want to increase your confidence?

Cumbrian comedian and writer Jane Postlethwaite is bringing her comedy writing workshops to The Storey in Lancaster for 2018.

These comedy workshops are open to everyone who loves comedy, is interested in writing and performing or just wants to try something new for 2018!

Jane is a Funny Women & Brighton Comedy Festival Award Finalist. Jane's one woman show, 'Made in Cumbria' was nominated for two comedy awards in the Brighton Fringe and received rave reviews at Edinburgh Fringe. She was heard on the Radio 4 comedy drama, 'Almost like being in love' alongside Game of Thrones star Gemma Whelan. She’s recently moved back to Cumbria where she is writing her new comedy show.

In these 4 hour bumper workshops, Jane will help you tap into your creativity, get inspired and learn the pieces that make up a good joke. The aim with the workshops is to help you become a confident writer and start thinking creatively while having lots of fun doing it in a supportive environment. There are loads of tips and exercises to do so all you need is a notebook and pen.

Jane says, “I want to offer the comedy workshops I wished were around when I was younger. I’ve purposely kept the day comedy workshops at a low cost so they can be more accessible for people. I think Northerners have the best sense of humour so I’m looking forward to meeting fellow ones and see what they come up with. I always make sure people walk away from this workshops buzzing and inspired! As well as writers, bloggers, students or actors, I’ve had all kinds of people attend my workshops such as scientists and builders! I’m really looking forward to working at The Storey in Lancaster as it looks an amazing space. The workshop’s are a great Christmas gift for anyone wanting to scratch their comedy itch in the New Year.”

There are three Saturday 10 February, Saturday 10 March, and Saturday 14 April 12-4pm at The Storey, Lancaster.  Tickets cost £40. There are only ten places per workshop. Book early to avoid disappointment at
