About M.A.R.T.H.A.

We are an independent charity based in the UK, providing free education to more than 100 children in rural South-East Nigeria.

Our school, Martha’s Academy, is based in Ekenobizi, a small village in Abia State. Our pupils are orphans, come from extreme poverty and could not afford education otherwise. In Nigeria, in 2017, education is still a privilege for a big part of its population, due to costs of school material, uniforms and the requirement for children to contribute to the income of their families.

We currently have three nursery classes and three primary classes, with a staff of four teachers giving a brighter future to an increasing number of children.

This is just the first step towards the realisation of our bigger goal: building our own primary and secondary school, to allow local children to access Higher Education and build themselves a bright future, bringing improvement to their community.

To achieve that we need your help. The price of a sandwich will make a huge impact in many lives and a whole community.
