Improv Musical Workshop
Learn fun new skills with this exciting workshop!
Gregson Community Arts Centre, 33-35 Moor Gate, Lancaster, LA1 3PY
Rachel Wareing, Felix Janeway
CSzUK (ComedySportz UK)

Does the thought of improvising musical numbers in scenes and games fill you with fear? This one day workshop will help you hit all the right notes, and find the key to unlock your hidden singing talents. You don't need a great singing voice, just an open attitude to learning a fun (but challenging) new skill with expert tutors!

This workshop is for people with experience in improv looking to explore creating music as well. Experienced musical improvisers are welcome and will be pushed! This workshop will focus on the creation of small group and solo songs, looking at the structure of a song and methods for creating continuity and meaning within your pieces.  Moving forward we will focus on methods of creating coherent music within groups. We will look at methods of passing, conducting and creating games in improvised chorus numbers, attempting to create rich, story-driven musical elements for your scenes.

This fun and friendly session will look at techniques for improvising showstopping tunes driven by characters needs and wants, all whilst juggling rhyme, melody and narrative. Book here.

The workshop is open to all skill levels and singing talents — however, some general experience of improv is recommended.
