On Friday 13th December from 10:00–17:00 Lancaster’s Midwinter Market will return to Lancaster’s central market square for the fourth year running; showcasing local food and drink producers, woodworkers, community food projects and local craftspeople.

The Midwinter Market is one of three annual seasonal markets organised by LESS (part of FoodFutures) that celebrate the seasons whilst bringing local residents in direct contact with local land workers and community food initiatives — building relationships and a local solidarity network. The markets also facilitate direct trading; supporting and strengthening our local sustainable food and crafts economy.

Confirmed Midwinter market stalls include:

Claver Hill food project: ‘no-dig’ herbs and winter salads, local food themed calendars and locally made chutneys and jams and oils.

The Fig Tree: locally-made and fairly traded bean-to-bar chocolates and Fairtrade gifts.

Backsbottom Farm:  heritage apple varieties sourced from the farm’s mature agro-forestry system. wooden chopping boards and coppice products.

The Graft Project: DIY Gallery.

From the Home of Hannah: Upcycled crafts and gifts.

David Jacques: Blacksmith demonstrations, decorations and gifts.

Logs Direct: orders for fire wood, including a range of ‘eco logs’.

Old School Brewery: locally-brewed beer tasters and gift packs.

Woodland Trust: information their work regenerating British woodlands, including how you can get involved.

Cockerham Boers: locally-reared free range goat meat

Warm street food will be dished up by Paul’s pancakes, the Veg Man’s falafel stall and Silverwood pizza.
