A Life More Ordinary Creative Sessions: Patchwork Stories

The Dukes, Lancaster LA1 1QE

Our pioneering project, A Life More Ordinary, gives people living with dementia and memory loss more choice, more control and greater access to leisure and cultural opportunities at The Dukes. Crucially, it is a project which takes place in ‘ordinary’ public settings, not in care or medical settings. The intention is that people can feel that they are able to come to an ‘ordinary’ social event, alongside other members of the public.

Our creative sessions are fun afternoons, led by an experienced facilitator.  No experience is necessary, and they are relaxed sessions where you can meet people and spend time trying out a creative activity.

Patchwork Stories

Working with artist Rebecca Willmott this workshop combines simple hard printmaking techniques, embroidery and drawing to create and illustrated patchwork. Each participant will design a fabric square inspired by their own stories, memories and familiar patterns which will be stitched together to create a collaborative patchwork.

All creative sessions are FREE to attend, but places are limited so please book in advance. Tickets are available to book online or by calling our Box Office on 01524 598500.

Please note that pastoral care is not provided at A Life More Ordinary events – a friend, family member or carer must also attend.

Free teas, coffees and biscuits are provided at all of our creative sessions and film screenings, courtesy of Iceland supermaket.
