In the Storey Gardens - Butterfly Transformation

Strange and mesmerising creatures have landed in the Storey Gardens. The beautifully illuminated butterflies have made their way from China and taken up residence in Lancaster’s secret garden.

Created using state-of-the-art 3D printing techniques and programmable LED lights, our giant butterfly friends first appeared at the Guangzhou International Light Festival and this is their first visit to the UK.

Catch them while you can.

In the Storey Gallery : The Moon Seat

The Moon Seat is an interactive light installation inspired by the full moon. Re-imagining old folklore tales and courting long forgotten childhood fears, the Moon Seat entertains our inner child.

The audience participates by bending the moonlight with their bodies, morphing their shadow to create new fictions from the darkness.

The Storey welcomes Morecambe Mini Illuminations

Morecambe’s Mini illuminations, just like Blackpool but 16 inches high! A community design project in Morecambe West End’s creative quarter, participants created  Natural World-themed miniature wonders for this year’s festival.

Watch out for the full display at the West End Lantern Festival later in November, after which they will be displayed in Morecambe windows through the winter.
