Yoga is an ancient system of exercise and philosophy developed in India over 2000 years ago.
B.K.S, Iyengar developed a form of yogic excercises (asanas) that concentrates on the alignment of the body. Equipment such as foam blocks, cork bricks, blankets and belts are used to support students to attain correct alignment in the postures.
Yoga means to join together, to unite. Yoga works on every aspect of our body, encouraging awareness of both body and breath, we then begin to feel more connected, more whole. It is this active awareness that distinguishes yoga from other forms of exercise.
Iyengar yoga is appropriate for all ages and body types.
Rozz Cutler has been practicing and teaching Iyengar yoga for over 20 years, and is a junior intermediate level 1 teacher.
