Judges' Lodgings

Situated in the centre of Lancaster against the backdrop of Lancaster Castle and Lancaster Priory, this elegant Grade 1 building commands an excellent view of the Ashton Memorial and Williamson Park (formerly the site of public hangings!). The Judges' Lodgings was the residence of Thomas Covell, Keeper of Lancaster Castle in the 17th century, and between 1776 and 1975 the house became impressive appartments for judges visiting the Assize Court held at the Castle.

With beautiful Georgian-style period rooms, gorgeous Gillows furniture, an Edwardian schoolroom, and the Museum of Childhood, there's something for the whole family to enjoy!

Disabled access to ground floor only.
