Lancaster and District YMCA (now part of Fylde Coast YMCA) was founded in 1879 and has a proud history of providing both centre-based and community outreach services. Having recently moved to new premises in the “Heart of the City” on Fleet Square, Lancaster, the YMCA benefits from an ideal central location and offers a wide variety of innovative targeted programmes and universal open access provision for local community members.
 

The building is on 5 levels and has the following facilities:

  • A reception area and café with kitchen facilities
  • Office space used by both YMCA and partner agency staff
  • Four meetings rooms
  • An IT suite (available for individual or block booking use)
  • A gym
  • Three recording studios
  • Sports hall
  • Conference area
  • Facilities for disabled service users included disabled access toilets on every floor, a disabled access shower and changing facilities.

Services delivered by Lancaster YMCA currently include:

  • Housing advice, guidance and practical support
  • Youth Work / Clubs (3 evenings per week — music, café bar, sports and fitness)
  • Offender Resettlement Support Services
  • Peer Mentoring
  • Health and Fitness (Including Box Clever  an innovative anger management programme using boxing skills reducing the stigma of formal counselling)
  • Informal Education and Training
