Dukes Passage To An Indian Film Season

October will see an Indian indie film season at Lancaster’s Dukes cinema. This will comprise a season of contemporary critically acclaimed and subtitled Indian independent films. The season starts on the 3rd October with Kothanodi(18), a supernatural horror film. The comedy Hotel Salvation(PG) is screened on October 10 and 12. Court(PG) on October 17 follows the story of an ageing folk singer in Mumbai who is charged with inciting the suicide of a sewage worker through the lyrics of his songs. Concluding the season on October 26 will be a classic of Indian cinema, The Lunchbox(PG).

Impermanent Durations: On Painting and Time is an experimental exhibition and collaborative project by four contemporary painters. The artists will work together in the gallery, responding to the space and reacting to each other to create an immersive installation.

The Dukes Premieres the 'Storm Desmond' Play: Blackout

October 13th to November 3rd 2017

The Dukes opens its autumn homegrown season with the premiere of a play inspired by the stories of local people who lived through an unprecedented storm and power cut in North Lancashire in 2015. Performed in The Round, Blackout will be the first mainstage production to be directed by Alex Summers, The Dukes Associate Director.

Go On The Town For Film, Dance & Stories

October 16 to November 13th 2017

An autumn series of events at The Dukes aimed at people with dementia, their families, friends and carers

On the Town(U) will be screened on October 16, there’s a Let’s Dance session on October 23 and a chance to share stories on November 13.

All these activities are part of The Dukes pioneering A Life More Ordinary programme for people with memory loss and their families, friends and carers.

A Life More Ordinary daytime film screenings are presented in association with AGE UK Lancashire and everyone is welcome.
