The body of a man who went missing in the Conder Green area has sadly been found in the River Lune.

Benjamin Heron, 39, from Lancaster, was reported missing on April 26th, when Police were called to reports that he had gone into the water close to the Stork Hotel on Corricks Lane.

A large-scale search, involving coastguard and police helicopters together with search teams on foot, was launched but they were unable to find him at that time. (Read our previous report).

His body was discovered at around 10.30am on May 25th in the water close to Sunderland Point.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner.

Mr Heron’s family are being supported by specially-trained officers and our thoughts remain with them at this sad time.
