Date set for Lancaster City Council by-elections

The date for by-elections to elect new councillors for the Skerton West and the University & Scotforth Rural wards on Lancaster City Council has been announced.

Voters in the two wards will go to the polls on Thursday 17th May 2018.

Anyone who is interested in standing as a candidate should telephone the elections office on 01524 582915 or email elections@lancaster.gov.uk.

The closing date for nominations is 4.00pm on Thursday 19th April.

The vacancies have arisen following the death of Roger Sherlock in Skerton West and resignation of Lucy Atkinson and Sam Armstrong in the University and Scotforth Rural ward.

To vote in these elections, new applications to register need to be made by midnight on Monday 30th April.

Registering is really easy to do - go online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.  Completing the application takes no more than a few minutes.
