Lancaster police are hunting thieves who stole camera equpment from a bird watcher on the canal.

The incident happened just before 9.00am on Friday 19th August near to the canal path on Aldcliffe Road.

A local nature photographer was approached by two men and one of them started to talk to him and distracted him whilst the other man stole his bag containing various pieces of camera equipment.

Over £1,000 worth of equipment was stolen including cameras, lenses, flashes and battery packs.

PC Ben Hanley from Lancaster Police said, “I would appeal to anyone who has information about this to come forward and contact the police. People may have been offered these goods and if they have I would ask them to get in touch.”
