Watch out for Galloway's Blindfold Race & Fun Run this Sunday

Chris Satori

Can you run 5k? OK. I believe you. (You're looking good, by the way:-) Now, can you do it blindfold? With the help of a friend, you just might. Find out at Galloway's 5k Blindfold Race & 1 mile Fun Run at 11am this Sunday on Morecambe Prom (opposite Morecambe Winter Gardens).

The 5k Race is for pairs - a blindfolded runner and a seeing friend / guide running together and joined by a tether.

There's also a Blindfold 1 Mile Fun Run that you can run, walk or even skip as the spirit moves you. It's also for pairs.

The 5k race costs £12.50 for adults and £7.50 for children up to age 16. The entry price includes: blindfold, tether, T-shirt & medal upon finish.

It's a fundraiser for the vital work Galloway's Society does to help people with sight impairments and blindness from all over Lancashire. Their Morecambe Centre (now on Victoria St) is one of four that provides specialist equipment and advice, talking newspapers, training and support groups as well as escorted holidays and outdoor activities. It also has a great new cafe called 'Brew Me Sunshine' that everyone is welcome to enjoy.

Online registration for the race is closed now but you can phone the centre to book (so they can be sure to have enough T-shirts!) or just turn up early and register.
