M6 Link Works - New Road Closure for Works announced

30/5/15: Drivers using Lancaster Road (A6) in Slyne are being advised of a weekend closure to facilitate works for the Heysham to M6 Link Road; these include several service and drainage crossings of the existing carriageway.

Torrisholme Road weekend closure for bridge installation: 15th - 18th May

7/5/15: Drivers using Torrisholme Road (B5321) near the new M6 Link Road construction site are being advised of a weekend closure to facilitate the installation of bridge sections over Torrisholme Road.

M6 Junction 34 southbound sliproad overnight closures

16/4/15: Drivers using the southbound sliproads of Junction 34 of the M6 in Lancaster next week are being advised of five consecutive overnight closures as part of ongoing works for the Heysham to M6 Link Road.

Costain: Caton Road to close at M6 weekend 10 - 12 April. Big Crane lifts scheduled to follow.

31/3/15: Drivers using junction 34 of the M6 in Lancaster are being advised of changes to the road layout and traffic light signals sequencing as part of ongoing works for the Heysham to M6 Link Road. From 8pm on Friday 10 April to 8pm on Sunday 12 April a section of Caton Road (A683)engineers will close the road between the M6 sliproads north and south, located either side of the M6.

Caton Road weekend closure announced for major reconstruction work under Motorway Bridge

6/1/15: A critical section of Caton Road (A683) will unavoidably have to close to allow major reconstruction and resurfacing to take place. On the weekend of Friday 16th to Monday 19th January 2015, Costain, the contractors appointed to build the Heysham to M6 Link Road, will need to close off the section of Caton Road directly under the M6 motorway bridge for resurfacing works as part of the scheme.

Bridge sections delivered safely to site as work continues on the newLink Road to the M6

23/11/14: Bridge sections that will form the new bridge structure known as Folly Railway Bridge, part of the £123 milkion M6 Link scheme to Heysham, have been delivered to the Costain construction site off Barley Cop Lane. Eight deliveries, each 21 metres long, were delivered to the site last week over two nights after 11.00pm with little fuss and avoiding peak traffic.

Year of Link roundabout roadworks on Morecambe Road to begin Monday

5/6/14: Traffic changes planned from Monday for 2014 Costain, the company contracted to build the contoversial new Heysham-M6 Bypass, have posted the June issue of their newsletter 'The Link' today, explaining that major roadworks are due to start this coming Monday 9 June on the roundabout at the junction of Morecambe Road and the A683 (end of Heysham Bypass), requiring traffic diversions.

28/4/14: Costain's Heysham-M6 Link Road Visitor Centre Road builders Costain have now opened a Visitors Centre for the Heysham to M6 Link Road project.

Torrisholme Road to be closed for three days for Link Road work

27/3/14: Lancashire County Council has announced Torrisholme Road and Lancaster Road will be closed completely to vehicle traffic from 8.00am Monday 7th April to 6.00am Thursday 10th April, between Russell Drive and 179 Torrisholme Road (by Lancaster Morecambe College entrance).

County Council allays fears over M6 clearance works

Government confirms funding for Heysham to M6 Link Road

13/12/13: Work will begin in earnest in the New Year on the Heysham to M6 Link Road after the government confirmed funding for the scheme. The Department for Transport has finalised its £111m contribution towards the road today, a route which which will link the Heysham Peninsula to the M6 motorway, marking the start of a new era for economic growth and improved transport.
