Everything's coming up Roses at Williamson Park

Everything will be coming up 'Roses' at Lancaster's Williamson Park this summer when the 2012 Roses Historic Vehicle Run heads to the park. The 12th Historic Vehicle Run will leave Bradford on Sunday 1st July and make its way via Halifax, Todmordon, Burnley, Clitheroe and through the Trough of Bowland before ending its journey at the park.

Vintage car rally to visit Williamson Park

Lancaster's Williamson Park will be welcoming members of the Roses Run Vintage Car Rally on Sunday 5th July.

Doctor Who's Brief Encounter in Carnforth

Colin Baker, who played the Sixth Doctor Who in the 1980s, is visiting Carnforth, Lancashire for a special bank holiday event. Colin will meet and greet fans of the series at Carnforth Station's Doctor Who-themed shop 'The Tardis' on Monday, 25th August.

Cycle away the school holidays

With the summer holidays fast approaching, Lancaster City Council is encouraging youngsters to get out on their bikes with a range of fun training sessions for all ages and abilities. Cycling is healthy and fun, but it’s best to learn how to do it safely.

Hala Estate to get a makeover, Open Day announced

A possible design for a new play area which Hala Community Group will be on hand to tell residents more about at a planned Open Day. More designs on the group's Facebook pageLancaster City Council and its partner contractor Forrest will be carrying out major improvement work on Lancaster's Hala Estate, and will be holding an open day for residents to find out more.

Charity Chamber Music Concert at the Priory

A concert of chamber music to raise money for the Doublejoy Orphanage Kenya will take place at Lancaster Priory on Saturday 9th January, opening with a performance of Haydn’s string quartet in G op. 77 No.1 by a group of Lancaster’s rising musical talents.

Lancaster Steiner School May Fair Carnival and Maypole Dancing

There will be a range of activities for children, including craft stalls, carnival entertainment and traditional may pole dancing. For adults there will be a cafe with delicious cakes and savouries. Velika Novica! Slovenian Band to rock Lancaster's Yorkshire House

The last time Janez Skaza came to Lancaster, he was with a choir which sang at the Gregson alongside the Lancaster Singers - and later went on to win the prestigious Slovenia's got Talent. He liked the area so much that he decided to come back with his rock band Pet Sto Metrov (which for non-Slovenian speakers translates as 500 Metres).

Plenty to do for kids across the Lancaster district this summer

A day of fun, free activities brought hundreds of children to Williamson Park on Wednesday, as Lancaster City Council celebrated National Playday.   Children took part in den and fire building, face painting, arts and crafts and water slides. Lancaster City Council’s Play Rangers were also on hand to teach circus skills and host the brand new ‘Play schemes got Talent’ competition.

Basil and his friends will go on a swashbuckling boom-tastic adventure on the deserted tropical island of Coco-Loco to search for the precious lost treasure 'The Golden Jelly Baby'.
