Between Willow Lane and the River Lune lies Freeman’s Wood. The local area, known as The Marsh, was once common land on which the local Freemen of the borough were entitled to graze their sheep.

Freeman's Wood to be sold to new developer if outline planning permission granted

5/4/17: Outline planning permission is being sought for the Freeman's Wood area. The owners, Bermuda-based Property Trust, don't plan to develop the site themselves, but to obtain outline planning permission and then sell it to a developer at a substantial profit. Have your say in the online consultation.

Freeman's Wood: Consultation on Satnam Plan to Build 250 Homes

31/3/17: The Property Development Trust's planning consultants, Satnam, are drafting a proposal to build 250 new homes on the land now occupied by Freeman's Wood. They will be holding a consultation display about it at the Storey, this Wednesday 5 April, from 12 noon - 6.45pm. There's also an online survey.
