Be prepared, this is no ruin. Owned by the Queen, until 2011 Lancaster Castle was a fully functioning seat of judgement and retribution, and still contains the local County Court. It's free to enter and offers festivals, tours, theatre, re-enactment, music, children's activities, souvenirs and cafe.

Wind in the Willows at Lancaster Castle tonight

5/8/16: A quick reminder that The Wind in the Willows is coming to Lancaster Castle today. After last year's sell out production of Alice in Wonderland, Attic Door will be returning to this historic building today, Friday 5th and tomorrow, Saturday 6th August, at 6.00pm and 8.00pm in a brand new family friendly promenade production.

30/7/16: Ludus Youth Dance Company will be performing a 10 minute popup show in Market Square at 1pmFirst Friday returns to Lancaster City Centre on Friday 5th August bringing kindness, bicycles and adventure for adults and children alike. There will be lots of free activities for families to enjoy. Everything will not be as it seems at Lancaster City Museum as it is turned into The Imagination Museum.

Morecambe's Attic Door Prductions bring Wind in the Willows to Lancaster Castle

26/7/16: Lancaster Castle is the setting for a new outdoor theatre adaptation of The Wind in the Willows in August. The show is being performed on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th August at 6.00pm and 8.00pm, produced by Attic Door Productions, based in Morecambe.

24/5/16: A walking tour of Lancaster is planned in June for anyone interested in finding out about the darker secrets of Lancaster's criminal history. The 'Lawless Lancaster' walking tour will take place on Thursday 2nd June. This tour will start at 10.30am at Lancaster Castle, and will finish at approximately 4.30pm at Lancaster Town Hall.

Lancaster Castle to host Shakespeare anniversary celebration show, Measures for Mesure

23/1/16: Lancaster Castle is raising the curtain on a brand new production of William Shakespeare's Measure for Measurein February. The show is being performed from Thursday 25th February until Saturday 19th March. Tickets are available from 9.30am on Monday 25th January.
