Lancaster Comics Day brings Roy of the Rovers to Town!

10/3/17: 10.03.17 This year's Lancaster Comics Day will be bringing some "Roy of the Rovers" moments to Lancaster in June, when special comic guests artist David Sque and writer and editor Barrie Tomlinson recall their time working on Britain's best-loved and most iconic comic football hero.

Light Up Lancaster event at Lancaster Library

31/10/16: Lancaster Library will host an event as part of the annual Light Up Lancasterarts festival this month. 'One Dark Night' will be held on Friday 4th November from 5.00 until 9.00pm and is free to attend. Anyone attending the event will be able to create light art with torches, glow sticks and finger lights.

Writing project explores World War One

15/10/14: A powerful new writing project focusing on World War Onewill be launched at Lancaster Library at 4.30pm on Monday 20th October. The project, called Time and Tide, is mainly aimed at people aged from 16 to 25. It will use records of coroners’ inquests from 1914 to 1918, held by Lancashire Archives, to explore the connections between our lives now and those a hundred years ago.

Library opening hours under review

3/6/14: Library bosses at Lancashire County Coouncil are asking people of all ages for their views on opening hours at local branches, including Lancaster and Morecambe. The consultation is now under way and will run for eight weeks, and involves 63 of the 74 libraries across the county.

Looking Back on Market Square: A 'Sneak Peek" at Lancaster Library's Exhibition

22/5/14: A post-war image of Market Street leading to Market Square circa 1946. The centre of the square is still accessible to cars. The Square was pedestrianised in the 1970s Lancashire's Museum Service has given us a sneak peek at the fascinating photographs of Lancaster's Market Square, which will be on display in Lancaster Library from Saturday 24th May as part of an ongoing display.
