Pedestrian Zone: New Traffic and Parking Restrictions Postponed

6/2/14: The start date for a scheme to reduce traffic in Lancaster's pedestrian zone has been postponed until 3rd March 2014 due to administrative errors. Lancashire County Council had intended to bring in the new rules, which will affect traffic and parking arrangements, on Monday 3 February.

Council launches parking strategy consultation, charges to be reviewed

3/12/13: Lancaster City Council is inviting comments on its draft parking strategy for the district, which includes a potential review of parking charges and changes to regulations that mean the County Council is now in charge of maintaining (and creating) resident parking schemes. The draft strategy was approved by the council’s Cabinet in October and is now open to public consultation.

Motorists get Parking warning

9/3/10: Motorists who leave their vehicles on Lancaster’s Ashton Road are being reminded they will be fined if they park illegally. Police have received a number of letters from drivers given tickets after parking on a section of the road that is now covered by a solid white line system However, the fines have been upheld.
