Arnside residents opens gardens to public, AONB exhibition pormotes the area

10/5/13: Photo: Judith SlaterEleven gardens in the beautiful estuary village of Arnside will be opened to the public this weekend, with entry proceeds going to the NSPCC. The gardens will be open on from 12 noon to 5.30pm on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May and one of the organisers, Judith Slater, tells us she'll be having owls in her garden on both days and chameleons and lizards on Sunday.

Police warnings to dog owners after sheep attacks

24/7/12: Police are asking dog owners to take responsibility for their pets after a number of sheep attacks in Silverdale and Warton - to the dismay of local farmers. Several farmers in the area have reported dogs running lose in the countryside and attacking their sheep and lambs.

Police appeal for missing Silverdale man

17/3/12: Lancashire police are appealing for help to try to find a man who has gone missing. Keith Smith, 64, of Challan Hall Mews, Silverdale was last seen at the Wheatsheaf pub in Beetham at about 2.15pm on Tuesday 13th March. Mr Smith’s black VW Polo car was found abandoned on a car park on Shore Road, Carnforth this morning (Friday, March 16th) by a member of the public.

Dog owners urged to keep pets under control after harassment reports

22/2/11: Dog owners are being urged to keep their pets under control in the countryside following reports of livestock being harmed by the animals when they are off their lead - which have included the death of one animal. Carnforth police have received a number of complaints from farmers after a series of incidents in which pregnant ewes and new-born lambs have been harassed by dogs.

Public meetings to discuss Shoreline Management Plans

9/2/10: Two public meetings have been arranged for people to discuss the future of our coastline. The events will be welcomed by many local people who might be affected by coastal erosion, who had complained of being sidelined by recent government investigations into the problems facing Morecambe Bay residents.
