Morecambe Bay in Paint Children's Event planned

Wednesday, September 30, 2015 - 14:41: Children are being invited to get creative with sponges, crumpled paper, fingers and stencils to paint Morecmabe Bay this half-term at a special family-friendly workshop, hosted by Morecambe Bay Partnership. Under the expert guidance of artist Andy Hornby, the Morecambe Bay in Paint event is being held at Lancaster City Museum on Tuesday 27 October with two sessions starting at 11am and at 2pm.

Sunday, September 27, 2015 - 08:11: Voters are being asked to comment on future polling arrangements in the Heysham Central ward. Lancaster City Council is reviewing its arrangements for voters on election day and is looking for feedback on a set of proposals it has drawn up for the area. The city council is proposing that the Heysham Central Ward is divided into two polling districts.

Lancaster Maritime Museum closed for two days for maintenance work

Monday, September 7, 2015 - 14:58: Lancaster Maritime Museum, based at the Custom House, St. George's Quay, Lancaster is closed today and tomorrow (Tuesday 8th September) to allow maintenance work to be carried out at the Custom House, which the museum is part of. Lancashire County Council museums manager Ian Watson, said: "We're very sorry for any inconvenience caused due to the museum being closed today and tomorrow.

Bag Charges start next month

Thursday, September 3, 2015 - 13:13: Large stores such as local supermarkets Sainsbury's, ADSA, Morrisons and others will have to charge 5p for each plastic carrier bag as from 5th October 2015. The fee - already in force in Wales, where money raised goes to charity, and Scotland - is part of government policy to reduce waste. Large retailers will charge a minimum price of 5p for most single-use plastic carrier bags.

Police Appeal for Missing Morecambe man Anthony Potter

Tuesday, September 1, 2015 - 17:07: Police are appealing for help to find a man who is missing from home in Morecambe. Anthony Potter, 55, went missing from his home address on Pedder Street at around 6.30am this morning (Tuesday 1 September), described as white, 5ft 9in, of a slim build and is bald. He was last seen wearing a jumper, jeans and either brown brogues or Dr Martens boots.

Man in hospital after being stabbed in Morecambe

Tuesday, September 1, 2015 - 15:46: Police are asking anyone with information about a stabbing on Marine Road East, Morecambe in the early hours of Saturday 29th August to come forward. The Ambulance Service attended an address on the road at around 2.35am, reporting that a 58-year-old man had been found with four stab wounds to the left side of his chest.
