Detectives are appealing for information after a woman was the victim of a robbery in Morecambe.
At around 11.40am on Monday 24th February, the victim left the Smugglers Den pub on Poulton Road to go to the bank with the weekend’s takings, when she was approached from behind by a man who snatched her bag from her shoulder and ran off.
Fortunately she was not injured but she was clearly left shaken and officers are urging anyone with any information to come forward.
The man has been described as white, around five feet five inches tall and of slim build. He was in his late 20’s to early 30’s and was wearing a grey baseball cap, a black Nike hooded top and blue jeans.
The bag the lady was carrying was black with a gold buckle and contained several hundred pounds as well as some personal items.
DC Trevor Walker said, “We are investigating the possibility that this may have been a targeted robbery and that the offender may have been hanging around the area shortly before so I would appeal directly to anyone that may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area around the pub that morning to come forward,
“Similarly, if anyone recognises the description of the man or if they have any other information that they think might be relevant then I would ask them to contact us.”
• Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log number LC-20140224-0482.
