Expert on the oil and gas industry Mike Hill is holding a public talk in the Banqueting Suite at Lancaster Town Hall on Tuesday February 6th at 7.30pm.

Mike Hill, a Chartered Engineer and leading expert on fracking, has contributed to major reports and to parliamentary committees and European conferences on the subject.

Mike explains that there is an urgent need for information, with the Preston New Road site now having reached the horizontal drilling stage and with exploration licenses having been sold for several other sites in Lancashire, including Roseacre Wood, Halsall near Ormskirk and Lancaster. “There are many questions being asked, about the process, how are the wells drilled and fracked, what protection we have, what regulations are in force, how will they be enforced and monitored, and what are the consequences for those who live here, and our air and water” he says.

To meet this growing need for information about fracking in Lancashire Mike will give a talk utilising his wide experience and knowledge of the fracking process, and the history of fracking so far. The meeting will then be thrown open to an extended question and answer session.

The meeting is especially important for people coming to the subject for the first time, and the focus will be on providing facts, not presenting opinion. “This is a vital issue for our county” says Mike.

All welcome. Come at 7.00 for 7.30pm. Entry is free and there will be a collection to cover costs. Hosted by Transition City Lancaster
