No Health Sell-off campaigners will lobby today’s (Wednesday 29 October) meeting of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT), calling for transparency over the planned sell-off of the trust’s pharmacy services.
The Trust Board will meet from 10am – 12pm in the Lecture Theatre in the Royal Lancaster Infirmary Education Centre. Those wishing to lobby the Trust Board for more transparency about the bidding process and proposed sell-off of hospital pharmacy services in the area will meet there at 9.15am.
Local campaigner Jean withers said:
“We have repeatedly requested to meet with the trust who are making the decision to sell-off the pharmacy. Despite telling the press they will meet us, they are yet to honour that promise. They must not ignore the 9,000 people who signed a petition and are demanding their pharmacy services are not sold-off to private profiteers. Today we’re making it clear to the board that we’re not going anywhere!”
In the evening the group will be holding a public meeting at the Old Hall Pub in Heysham for all residents who are concerned about keeping NHS Trust services intact to meet and discuss the next steps of the campaign.
