Next week sees the annual gathering of the Arts Communities in Lancaster and Morecambe District, organised by the Lancaster Arts Partnership – a fun, informal opportunity for local creatives to meet, talk, plan, network and enjoy some live entertainment.
It’s a free, fun, sociable event for artists, freelance creatives, organisations and anyone with an interest in arts and culture across our district. There’ll be great entertainment by local performers, and it’s a chance to have some input into the future of arts and culture in our district.
Live entertainment throughout the evening will come from local all-female punk/new wave three piece Varicose Veins and the Steve Varden Wheelchair one man band, plus local artist Anthony Padgett will be teaching us all the Art Gallery Dance.
This year, because of the ongoing COVID situation, the Lancaster Arts recognise that some people may not yet be comfortable with public gatherings, so they are offering two ways to join the gathering, in person at the More Music Building (13 – 17 Devonshire Road, West End, Morecambe LA3 1QT) or via a live stream event.
Formed in 2009, the Lancaster Arts Partnership (LAP) is a consortium of organizations working together to champion and promote the strategic development of excellent arts activities in the Lancaster District.
In 2013, LAP, with partner organisations developed 2020Vision, a seven-year framework for the arts in the area.
The Annual Gatherings began as an opportunity each year to review progress against the report.
This year’s gathering will be a chance to do a final review and mark the start of planning for what will follow.
