Lancaster Police are still working with all of their partner agencies to assist all affected by the weekend’s flooding issues.
“At present shops in Lancaster City Centre remain closed with both Greyhound and Skerton Bridge closed to allow an inspection at low tide for damage caused by the floods”, they say in a statement issued this morning.
“Travel between Lancaster and Morecambe is therefore not possible in a vehicle at present, however, both Millenium and Carlise bridge are open to pedestrians.
“Again though I must impress that Town Centre Shops are closed so only come out if absolutely necessary.
“Power is now being returned to most homes by generators located around the area whilst repairs are made to the electric sub station in Lancaster. In the meantime please check on elderly neighbours to ensure their safety.
“All emergency services remain dedicated to getting things back to some form of normality as soon as possible and we hope to provide more updates as to the ongoing works throughout the day.
“We thank you all for your patience and hope everyone is still okay.”
