Here’s the latest from Lancaster Police on the situation in and around the town after the flooding.
So everybody is aware additional police officers remain on the ground in the Lancaster area to provide support to those affected by the power cuts and flooding.
However please remember to be patient with us if you call as Emergency Services are going to be very busy and will prioritise their attendance to emergencies where there is a risk to life, but rest assured we have resources on the ground working together to help those in need.
We ask that if you know of elderly and/or vulnerable people who have been affected by the power outage, please take a couple of minutes to check on them. If you feel that there is a risk to life, please call 999. If there isn’t a risk to their life but you are worried about them being left in the property, please call 101 and log their information with the Police.
Further to this if you’re in emergency need and can’t get help from family or friends, Lancaster City Council is running a rest centre at Salt Ayre Sports Centre, Lancaster. Emergency plans are in place so that affected stations remain fully operational.
At present LFRS and the Environment Agency continue to work at St Michaels on Wyre to manage the impact of yesterday’s floods.

Travel Advice
In relation to travel around the Lancaster, Morecambe and Carnforth areas; many areas are still affected and some roads remain closed.There may be issues with traffic lights due to the power outage so if you are travelling by car to check on someone please drive carefully.
Please do not ignore any road closed signs as we do not want you to become stranded and vulnerable. Traffic may be heavy and congested on the roads and St Michaels is still flooded for those living and travelling in the Wyre area.
For those using the buses I ask that you check the Stagecoach website as they have been posting updates on available services.
Unfortunately trains are off from Preston North bound due to the flooding and further issues throughout Lancashire and Cumbria. This therefore means no Trains are running into Lancaster.
