Lancaster-based comic creator and author Antonella Caputo has devised an illustrated Parkinson’s Diary, now available in English and German, with the aim of helping people with the disease.
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition, in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.
There’s currently no cure for Parkinson’s, but there are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help you manage the condition – and Antonella, whose partner, comic artist Nick Miller, is a sufferer, hopes this illustrated diary will be one of them.
“It’s well-established that writing things down not only helps you to remember them, but also helps you to deal with things more proactively,” she explains. “So, based on our personal experience as a person living with Parkinson’s and his carer, we’ve created this diary with the aim of helping people with Parkinson’s Disease as they go through one of life’s more difficult challenges.”
Antonella, who originally hails is from Rome, Italy is an author and creative director, with over 20 years’ experience in copywriting and visual marketing and part of the Team Sputnik design agency.
