Morecambe Artists Colony has announced a new exhibition, “An Exhibition by Numbers – Visual Artists Artists Respond to Mathematics Writers” at the More Music Gallery in Morecambe, opening on Saturday 15th February 2025 with a free opening night event.

For the past three years, the Association of Teachers of Mathematics has been commissioning artists to respond to the themes in their regular publication, Mathematics Teaching (also known, simply, as Mt), a significant national teaching magazine
Morecambe artist Shane Johnstone has been curating the national and international input, with several artists from Lancaster and Morecambe represented under the title, Mt Artists in Residence. Now, a selection of the residency submissions are being shown in the More Music Gallery from Saturday 15th February.
The opening event to offers great music from Tony Wright (Terrorvision), Pete Moser (OMB) and others to be announced, the opportunity to taste chocolate, dance the ART dance and preview the exhibition.
Originally a fairground artist in Blackpool and Morecambe, Shane Johnstone has worked in the film industry, London theatre, commercial arts and special education. With a reputation nationally as a provider of innovative, practical and accessible multi-media projects to schools and community groups and a successful co-coordinator of arts events in the Northwest and beyond for local authorities, arts agencies, festival and theatre companies.
Shane has collaborated with many local arts agencies and providers including The Dukes Youth Theatre on the Cultural Journeys Pilot as part of the London 2012 cultural legacies programme for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games, and More Music since 1995 on many successful, popular and highly enjoyable arts events.
