Can you volunteer for a 4-hour shift helping at the Christmas Shelter?

Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service are looking for volunteers to assist with the day to day running of the Christmas Shelter which will again be held at St Thomas Community Centre from 9.00pm on Sunday 24th December (Christmas Eve) to lunch time on Friday 29th December.

Volunteers are needed to cover shifts over the 5-6 day at the shelter. The shift schedule runs as follows:

8.00am to 12.00 noon,  12.00noon to 4.00pm 
4.00pm to 8.00pm,   8.00pm to 12.00 midnight

If you can help out with any of these shifts during the duration of the Shelter please telephone Peter at Edward Street on 01524 842008 or e-mail: volunteering@ldhas.org.uk.  

The Centre Manager will be at the LDHAS Centre on Edward Street on Saturday 16th December between 12.00 and 1.30pm to carry out a volunteer induction for the Shelter if you have not helped previously (see below).

LDHAS are also looking for volunteers to help with the following fund raising events

Saturday 9 December between 10.00 am – 4.00 pm. Collection at  Sainsbury’s Supermarket Lancaster.
Volunteers are needed to stand at the entrance with a collection bucket for one or two hours to chat with the general public and to gratefully receive their cash donations. If you can donate an hour out of your day please contact Peter Williams- volunteer coordinator volunteering@ldhas.org.uk

Saturday 9th December 2017: Street Collection Lancaster Town Centre.
This fundraising event will take place on Saturday 9th December between 10.00 am – 4.00 pm. Volunteers are needed throughout the day. The collection takes place in the city centre. If you can donate an hour out of your day please contact Peter Williams- volunteer coordinator volunteering@ldhas.org.uk

Saturday 16th December: Carol Singing in Market Square 10.00am to 12.00 noon.
This is a fundraising event organised by some of the churches in Lancaster as their way of raising much needed for funds for LDHAS. Volunteers are not required for this event but you may wish to go and watch as it will be an enjoyable occasion.

Saturday 16th December 2017: Volunteer Induction
The Centre Manager will be hosting a volunteer induction session from 12.00 noon to 1.30pm for those volunteers wishing to volunteer at the Christmas Shelter and have not done so before. It is a time to explain what goes on at the Shelter and what volunteering is all about at the Shelter. If you would like to attend please come to the Centre on Edward Street (The portacabin in the car park near the Dukes Theatre) on the day.
