Following the fatal road traffic collision on the M6 last week, the man who died has now been named as 34-year-old Mark Wilson from Kendal.

“Mark was an amazing, genuine man,” said his family in a statement, “and anyone who knew him would speak kindly of him. He always had a big smile and a dry sense of humour, a listening ear and would never let you say goodbye without one of his big, strong, loving hugs.

“His life revolved around his wife and children and being a family man, he was always loving and protective of them. He was a wonderful father of two lovely children aged six and two. He gave his spare time to coach and encourage his older son with his passion of football and became actively involved with his sons football team. Mark’s passion for football stemmed from being a devoted Manchester United supporter.

“He was a loving husband who supported his wife a 110% with raising both their children. As Mark was such a family man all his hobbies centred around his wife, children and family, with weekends taken up with fishing, bike rides, days out and kicking a football around with his children.

“He was a caring member of his family and was always there for them, especially in time of need for his mum, dad, brothers and sisters. He was the best son in law that you could wish to have.

“To his friends he was the salt of the earth, loyal and trustworthy who never had a bad word about anybody. He was one in a million who could never be replaced.

“To the rest of the world he may have been one man but to all of his family and friends he was our world and irreplaceable.”
