Local voters should be on the lookout for their poll cards for the June elections to Morecambe Parish Council, Lancashire County Council and the European Parliament will take place on Thursday, 4th June.
12 parties have put forward candidates for the European elections: the British National Party, the Christian Party, the Conservatives, the Jury Team, the Liberal Democrats, No2EU, Pro Democracy: Libertas.eu, the Socialist Labour Party, the Green Party, the Labour Party and the United Kingdom Independence Party. There is only one Independent candidate – Francis
Apaloo from Blackburn.
There will also be a by-election for Castle Ward on the city council following the resignation of Catriona Stamp and there are four candidates: Melanie Forrest (Green), Billy Hill (Conservative), Richard John Newman-Thompson (Labour) and Rebecca Joan Parris (Liberal Democrats)
Poll cards have been sent to every registered voter telling them where their polling station is and some key information about the election.
People who have already applied to vote by post will also receive a card reminding them that they will be voting by post at these elections.
Anyone who has not received their poll card should contact Lancaster City Council to check that they are on the electoral register.
Anyone who is not registered has until 19th May to make an application. This date is also the deadline for anyone wishing to apply to vote by post.
