Engineers from Electricity North West have restored power to all areas of Lancaster affected by flooding to the area’s main substation.
Some local faults affecting a handful of properties may mean that a number of customers remain off supply. The University of Lancaster, four commercial properties and a handful of homes are still without power.
Customers who have had power restored are now being asked to conserve energy where possible to reduce the risk of further outages.
Mark Williamson, operations director at Electricity North West, said: “We’ve now restored the vast majority of homes and businesses in Lancaster although we are aware of some affected by local issues that remain without power.
“The substation is back online but not yet operating at full capacity. That means we need customers to conserve power as much as possible until we can fully complete repairs on the substation. We will provide further updates throughout the day.”
