Police are appealing for information following the theft of a quantity of copper piping from football changing rooms in Ryelands Park, leaving them flooded.
Police say the cost of repairs will be enormous.
The incident happened between 6:30pm on Sunday 2nd September and 9:00am on Monday 3rd at the changing rooms on Ryelands Park on Owen Road.
The offenders forced a lock off a wooden door and entered the changing rooms and toilet area, then stolen all the copper piping leaving the whole area to flood with water.
PC Adam Jussub from Lancaster police said, “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity on Ryelands Park on Sunday night or Monday morning to come forward and contact the police.
“It is going to cost the authorities money to repair the damage and replace the stolen copper in order to get the facility up and running again.
“If anyone has any information about this incident then they should come forward and contact the police.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Lancaster police on 101.
