People with learning disabilities are invited with their friends and families to a free event at Salt Ayre Sports Centre on Wednesday 25th September.
The Fun Café has been organised by the North Lancashire Learning Disability Partnership, together with Lancashire County Council and Lancaster City Council, to help promote healthy lifestyles.
From 10.30am to 2.30pm, people will be able to try variety of activities, games and crafts and to get information to promote health and wellbeing.
There will also be information for carers, with representatives from Carers Point, Help Direct, and specialist county council and health staff from Fylde and Wyre on hand to offer help and advice.
Amanda Topps, a community engagement officer at Lancashire County Council, said: “This will be a really enjoyable event in a relaxed and welcoming setting, with the focus on having fun and meeting new friends.
“If people would prefer not to take part in the activities, they are very welcome to join us simply for the information and cafe.
“The event will see the launch of our Good Health Awards which will celebrate good practice in healthcare. The winners will be announced on the day at 12 noon.”
The event includes indoor and outdoor activities such as five aside football, multi-sports, a relaxation session, dance, a cook and eat session, make your own fruit smoothie, a reading group and much more.
Amanda added: “People with learning disabilities will also be invited to complete our questionnaire and enter the free raffle for some great prizes donated by local businesses. The raffle will be drawn at 2.00pm.”
Th! e sports centre has changing facilities and plenty of free parking. Pe ople will be able to buy drinks, snacks and lunch from the café.
