It’s Open Mic night at tonight’s 20th Anniversary Spotlight Club at The Storey, which has just received the great news that it has successfully been granted two years funding from Arts Council England.
The first ever Spotlight was back in December 1995 – and to celebrate, this month’s Spotlight is an Open Mic night that includes special guests Steeve The Poet and Mollie Baxter.
Steeve The Poet first appeared on the bill at Spotlight in March 1996 and soon became a big Spotlight favourite.

Mollie Baxter first appeared on the bill at Spotlight in August 1998 as a singer-songwriter and has since been a regular Spotlight performer as writer, musician, actor and compere.
This celebratory event includes music from The Low Countries, one of Spotlight’s favourite bands. Primarily ElsD’hooge (vocals, accordion, melodica, glockenspiel) and Nigel Parrington (vocals, guitar, harmonica), they have been regulars at Spotlight in various guises since 2007.
The event is compered by Simon Baker, who first appeared on the bill at Spotlight in May 2003 and became a regular compere in December 2007.
Founded in December 1995 Lancaster Spotlight works in association with litfest.
