Myerscough College held their presentation of awards ceremonies over two days last month.
The ceremonies saw many students presented with outstanding achievement awards, rewarding their efforts over the duration of the course. This year saw many students from around the Lancaster and Morecambe area given awards as the top students on their courses.
Ebba McKeown, from Borrowdale Road, Lancaster, recently completed the FdSc Animals and Horticulture as Therapy Degree, and won the Myerscough Best Student Award. Jenna Everard, from Truman Avenue, Lancaster, won the Myerscough Equine Green Yard Award for the National Diploma in Horse Management (Equitation). Kieran Fitzgerald, from Greaves, won the NFU Brock and Garstang Branch Award for the BSc (Hons) Agriculture Degree.
For the National Diploma in Agriculture, Thomas Pye, from Scotforth, won the Daniel Lawson Memorial Cup for Practical Work. Colin Barnes, from Mill Street, Lancaster, won the Fitzherbert Brockholes Trophy and the Duchy of Lancaster Scholarship for the Foundation Degree in Ecology and Conservation Management.
From the BSc (Hons) Arboriculture, Shane Rothwell, from Dolphinholme, won the RBHS of Manchester and the Northern Counties Outstanding Student Award. From the National Award in Organic Horticulture, Jean Woodhouse, from Grange over Sands, won the Milburn Cup First Prize. Elliot Smith, from Heysham, won the BALI Award for Best Student for the National Diploma in Landscape.
The awards recognise the exceptional dedication and commitment that they have put into their studies.
Thomas Pye will now be working on his family farm on a full time basis. Colin Barnes is seeking work with an ecological consultancy firm. Jean Woodhouse is looking to start up her own gardening business and Elliot Smith has been offered a full time job with Greenbelt Landscapes in Carnforth. Shane Rothwell will now go and study a Masters Degree in Ecology and Conservation at Lancaster University. Ebba McKeown, Jenna Everard will all be continuing on to the next level of education at Myerscough College.
