Free Dog MicroChipping Event announced as Deadline Looms

21/3/16: Dog owners are being reminded there are only days left to go before their dog must by law be microchipped - and Lancaster City Council has lined up another free "chipping" event to help owners who have yet to get it done. On 6th April 2016, new government legislation will come into force making it compulsory for all dogs to be microchipped.

Get your dog chipped for free

28/5/12: Local dog owners are being offered the chance to have their animals chipped for free as part of a push to get people to be more responsible with their pets. Officers from local neighbourhood police teams will be providing the service in Lancaster city centre on Friday June 1 with the assistance of the Dogs Trust.

Dog owners urged to keep pets under control after harassment reports

22/2/11: Dog owners are being urged to keep their pets under control in the countryside following reports of livestock being harmed by the animals when they are off their lead - which have included the death of one animal. Carnforth police have received a number of complaints from farmers after a series of incidents in which pregnant ewes and new-born lambs have been harassed by dogs.

Dog, drugs and cash seized during Skerton raid

5/1/10: Police seized a suspected dangerous dog, drugs and cash during a raid on a house in Lancaster yesterday. The four-year-old suspected pitbull was confiscated by officers after they executed a dangerous dogs warrant at a property in Noel Road, Skerton, at around 1.00pm on Monday 4th January.

Dog Fun Day Planned for Heysham School

7/7/09: Lancaster City Council has teamed up with the RSPCA, the Dogs Trust and Lune Valley Training Club to offer free microchipping, identity discs and training to all dog owners at a special event to be held on Wednesday 22nd July. The Dog Fun Day will take place at Trumacar Primary School in Heysham between 10.00am to 12 noon and 1.00pm to 3.00pm.
