"Evita" comes to Lancaster in June

15/5/15: The Morecambe Amateur Operatic and Drama Society is bringing the highly acclaimed musical, Evita, by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to Lancaster for the first time in June, at the Lancaster Grand Theatre. Told entirely in song, the story charts the rise of the First Lady of Argentina, who won the love of the nation after marrying the miltary turned president, Juan Peron.

In the play, based on the novel first published in 1938 that made du Maurier one of the most popular writers of her time, Maxim de Winter marries a woman half his age only a year after the death of his first wife - the beautiful and accomplished Rebecca.
