Lancaster Tennis Club announces April Open Day

28/2/16: Lancaster Tennis Clubon Lune Road is launching its new tennis season with an Open Day on Saturday 16th April (2.00 - 4.00pm) for anyone interested in trying out tennis and maybe becoming the next Andy Murray! This is for both adults and juniors, from aged five upwards, and is free of charge.

On Tuesday (19th January) Lancaster City Council’s cabinet unanimously supported the plans, which will now go to Full Council on Wednesday 2nd March for final approval.

Details of car park closures for cycling event

28/7/14: A number of car parks in Lancaster will be closed for this year’s city centre cycle race on Wednesday 6th August, organised by Lancaster Cycling Club. LC3 (Lancaster City Centre Crits) will be taking place in the residential area adjacent to Dalton Square.

Lancaster team sets off International Youth Games

14/7/14: A group of young people set off for Holland on Sunday to take part in a week long annual festival of sport and culture. From 14 to 17 July the International Youth Games will be held for the sixth time in Almere and will see a group of more than 40 young people aged between 14 and 16 representing their clubs, schools, town and country at the games.

Lancaster University in traditional Chinese Dragon boat race

21/5/14: A team of 20 Lancaster University students, staff and community members braved the heavy rain and wind to take home 2nd place at the North West Confucius Institute Dragon Boat Competition was held at Preston Docks on 10th May. The annual set of races are held to celebrate the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival and included teams from five universities in the region.

Central Lancaster High School students complete Sports Leaders Award

14/5/14: More than 20 students from Central Lancaster High School have recently completed the Sports Leaders UK Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership course. The 30 hour course delivered by Lancaster City Council was completed over 12 weeks. The course is designed for students aged 13 to 16 years old and provides them with their first experience of becoming a PE teacher.

New Bowlers, please! Happy Mount Bowling Competition announced

30/1/14: Lancaster City Council is calling for teams to take part in a crown green bowling competition at Happy Mount Park, Morecambe. The event will take place over three week nights. The initial heats will be on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th March. The finals will take place on Thursday 20th March. Each night will run from 6pm to 8pm and all are welcome.

Salt Ayre offers free sport on your doorstep for 13 to 19-year-olds

24/1/14: Lancaster City Council and the University of Cumbria are joining forces to deliver a new Doorstep Sports Club at Salt Ayre Sports Centre. A doorstep sports club provides numerous sports and free coaching to young people aged 13 to 19 and has proved popular across the UK.

Heysham Community Sports centre opens its doors to the public

That's 20! Superb TT Senior race victory for McGuinness

Lancaster Athletics Club announce April date for Three Bridges Race

10/12/12: Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club is accepting entries for their annual 3 Bridges 10k running race which will be start from their Clubhouse at Salt Ayre Sports Centre at 11.00am on Sunday 28th April. This is always a popular race with runners from all over the north west taking part, often as a fast preparation for spring marathon races.

Take time out to volunteer for sport

27/11/12: Local people are being invited to take time out for sport as part of a new scheme introduced by Lancaster City Council. The 'Your Sport, Your Community' scheme has been set up to support and reward sports volunteers across the district and to recognise the valuable work they do within the community.

15/10/12: Morecambe FC has announced a series of new soccer schools sessions at the Globe Arena. Community Sports soccer schools sessions at the Globe Arena run 10.00am - 3.00pm over three days and are open to boys and girls of all playing abilities aged 5 to 15 years of age.
