Forest Friends Project - Lancaster District

Forest Friends Project - a new volunteering opportunity to help manage urban woodlands in the Lancaster District, for wildlife and people.

Tree planting and maintenance…hedgerow restoration and management…drystone walling…ponds and school nature reserves…orchard management…footpath management…fencing. These are just some of the jobs the group undertakes each year.

Light Up The Streets calls for volunteers to help the show

16/10/14: Volunteers are being sought to help out with one of Lancaster’s most spectacular events – Light Up The Streets. Organised by Lancaster Arts Partners, the much-praised event will take place on 7th November, a family friendly event where Lancaster’s buildings and squares are animated with music, dance, theatre and film for the evening.

Nominations sought for prestigious volunteering award

8/7/13: Lancaster City Council is encouraging the community to nominate the district’s unsung heroes for a special award. Nominations are being sought for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, a prestigious National Honour equivalent to the MBE.
