Drivers using Torrisholme Road (B5321) near the new M6 Link Road construction site are being advised of a weekend closure to facilitate the installation of bridge sections over Torrisholme Road.
Following liaison with the county council’s highways team, Stagecoach, and the Police, engineers will close the road between Russell Drive and Endsleigh Grove; this will also mean there will be no access onto Barley Cop Lane which leads to the Crematorium and cricket clubs.
From 10.00pm on Friday 15th May to 6.00am Monday 18th May, Torrisholme Road between Russell Drive and Endsleigh Grove will be fully closed to traffic.
(Pedestrian access along Torrisholme Road and Barley Cop Lane will be available throughout the weekend closure, on signposted walkways).
Although diversion signs will be erected, its important drivers familiarise themselves with alternative routes, and plan their journeys ahead.
Access to the Crematorium and cricket clubs will be from the A6 end of Barley Cop Lane, due to the Torrisholme Road end being closed off.
Costain’s Project Director, Andrew Langley said “We’ve scheduled this work to be carried out over a weekend to reduce the impact on local traffic as much as possible. This closure of Torrisholme Road was always expected for the bridge beam lifts as part of the construction”.
Engineers will work around the clock from 10.00pm on Friday 15th May to ensure the work is complete in time for the closure to be removed on Monday morning.
