“Under Morecambe Skies” is a new photographic exhibition by Lancaster photographer Richard Davis which opens in the Dukes Gallery, Lancaster next Friday (2nd September)

“The exhibition is a celebration of all things Morecambe, it highlights the often choatic mix of man’s bizarre intervention & nature’s stunning wonder,” says Richard. “Both appeal greatly!”

“Stuck in a timezone all of its own, Morecambe combines vast skies, stunning sunsets and panoramic views with a real unconvential beauty and faded grandeur, which for me, makes a perfect combination.

“Add to this the special coastal light with an ever changing tide, weather and seasons and what you get is a photographer’s paradise.”

During the opening night event, Richard will also be showing a short film, also called Under Morecambe Skies in the Gallery – a film featuring local luminaries such as The Heartbreaks, Miss P, Liar Liar, Dotty’s Vintage, The Lovely Eggs, Jade Xue, Therese Standish, Florence Moulian, Mia Wilson & Michel Gueyrard, all filmed in various locations of Morecambe.

Special guest for the opening night event – Miss P – will give a spoken word narrative on Morecambe whilst the film is shown.

The Exhibition runs in the Dukes Gallery until 25th September and will then be shown at the following locations: Lancaster Library (1st October – 29th October 2011);  More Music, Morecambe (1st November – 28th November 2011); and The Storey Institute, Lancaster (29th November – 29th December 2011).
