As we enjoy a lovely mild holiday weekend, spare a thought for the volunteer RNLI lifeboat crews all around the UK who will be called out to rescue and often save the lives of holidaymakers who enjoy the sea and the coast.
As these volunteers give up their time and often risk their own lives to save ours, the least we can do is help pay for their equipment and training – and that’s exactly why a group of local people will be doing just that on 1st May 2022, in Morecambe, as part of the national RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge.
Join them on the day for a sponsored one mile walk from Morecambe Hovercraft Station near Stone Jetty, along the promenade to the Lifeboat Station and back.
Starting at 11.00am, walkers will be led by the inshore lifeboat on its trailer and the brilliant samba reggae carnival band Batala Lancaster.
If you’d rather donate than walk, RNLI volunteers will be there with collection buckets – or you can use the RNLI donation page here
