Lancashire County Council is on the lookout for the country’s best landscape artists in its annual Lancashire Artist of the Year competition. The judges want to see paintings, sketches, collages, lino prints or even embroideries depicting your favourite view of Lancashire in spring, summer, autumn or winter.

The competition is open to anyone based in the UK who has a connection to the postcode boundaries of Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen Council and Blackpool Council. There is no age restriction. (Full Terms and Conditions of Entry are here)
Entry is restricted to one Artwork entry per person, per seasonAs always, three artworks depicting each season will be picked to go in a calendar that you’ll be able to buy from all Lancashire County Council libraries this summer, with the proceeds going towards activities to support care leavers in Lancashire.
The Council’s panel of judges will pick their favourites from each season and create a shortlist. The shortlisted artworks will then be open to an online public vote.
The artwork with the most votes will become the overall winner, featuring on the calendar cover, with the artist who created it winning the title of Lancashire Artist of the Year 2025.
The artists who create the 12 chosen artworks will each receive copies of the printed calendar and a certificate. They will also be invited to a prize presentation at Lancashire Archives in Preston.
The overall winner will receive an engraved trophy and a £50 e-voucher to an art supply store. The runners up will each receive a £25 voucher to an art supply store.
The closing date for entries is 4th June 2025, so share with any artists who might be interested, and good luck!
