After what was a completely crazy day yesterday, some welcome help is available for businesses affected by the flooding.
Sainsbury’s was among the businesses impacted by flooding, closing all day; the White Cross pub also closed when its bar area was flooded, as was the Water Witch.
Clothes shop Joseph & Co suffered its third flooding event in the past eleven years, customers rallying to its support.
Floods also impacted the Marsh estate and other areas of Lancaster.
A team from Lancaster City Council’s Cleansing Department will be out in the city centre today, Friday 21st August, looking to help affected businesses dispose of debris and flood-damaged waste.
Understandably, the team won’t necessarily know which businesses have been affected or who could benefit from their free assistance.
So, if you are business in the City centre has been affected by the flooding, and you have waste or debris that needs removing, contact the Council at publicrealm@lancaster.gov.uk.
City Council teams are continuing to check in with impacted residents, but anyone experiencing unexpected costs and financial hardship as a result of the flooding may be able to access support through the Council’s Crisis & Resilience Fund – more details here
